|Reiki is a simple, natural, safe, and effective technique that reduces stress and promotes healing. Learning Reiki is not dependent on one’s intellectual capacity, education, experience or spiritual development. Anyone can learn Reiki and it has been taught successfully to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds. Reiki I and II certification is required to participate in most hospital Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) programs.
Reiki, or “spiritual life force energy”, was developed by Mikao Usui (1865-1926) in Japan.
Mrs. Takata, an early student of Reiki, brought it to the western world. Recently, Frank Arjava Petter and William Lee Rand (International Center for Reiki Training) uncovered new information about the origins and practice of Reiki in Japan. I recommend their book The Spirit of Reiki.
Healing Connections’ Reiki PLUS classes incorporate all the traditional teachings of Reiki as well as expanded teaching about energy, instruction to develop sensitive perception skills, practice time, certificate and ongoing lifelong support for your practice. Also provided is the manual, Reiki: The Healing Touch.
Reiki I: Shoden “Elementary/Entry Teachings”. The focus is on physical healing and includes history, basic theory, hand placement, sensing energy, and procedures for healing self and others. An “attunement”, one of the elements that makes Reiki different from other energy healing methods, is given to the student to “turn on” the energy flow. Once the energy is turned on, it is present for life! You will never lose it, although it gets stronger with use. (1 day)
Reiki II: Okuden “Inner Teachings” The focus is on mental, emotional and karmic healing. Students are taught three Reiki II symbols that increase the strength and focus of Reiki energy. Class includes instruction to connect with Reiki guides, long distance healing methods, how to incorporate symbols into a treatment, practice time, and attunement. (1 day)
Often Reiki I and II are taught together, and students are encouraged to practice over time, and become comfortable with their skills before taking the next level of training.
Reiki III: Shinpiden “Mystery Teaching” is divided into two classes:
- Advanced Reiki teaches the student the Reiki method of spiritual surgery to removed blocked energy and incorporates 2 advanced symbols. Many people who do not intend to teach Reiki take this advanced class to continue learning and advancing their skills. (1 day)
- Reiki Master Teacher provides students everything they need to know to teach Reiki to others. Instruction is given on responsibility, ethics, methods, resources, and how to pass the attunement. Completion of this class does not create a Master, it is the first step in intending mastery and a life long process of healing service in whatever capacity the student wishes. (1 day)
