What is Brennan Healing Science (BHS)?

BHS is a specialized form of integrative medicine and method of energy healing taught at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing (BBSH). It is a spiritual system that works with the client's consciousness and energy field to heal people on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Distortions in the energy field, if left untreated, will eventually manifest as health problems in the physical body. The specific skills and techniques balance, charge, clear and repair the energy field to help restore health on all levels.

How does hands-on healing work?

The BHS practitioner partners with the client to bring their skills and expertise to support health. The practitioner allows energy to flow to the client and the client naturally receives the energy as needed. As healthy energy flows, the practitioner guides it so that it releases blocks of stagnant energy that cause imbalance.

What exactly is an energy field?

It is the an organized pattern of energy that surrounds and penetrates the bodies of all living things, the qualities of which relate directly to a person's state of health. Energy flows into the field through the chakra system in much the same way as the digestive system nourishes the physical body.

Can scientists prove the existence of the energy field?

Yes. Research so far shows that the energy field has properties that suggest it to be both particular in nature like fluid and also energetic like light waves. The electromagnetic frequency of the field has been measured and correlated to the frequency of colors observed in the field by sensitive healers. An interesting book on the subject is The Field by Lynne McTaggert.

Do I need to keep seeing my doctor if I do this work?

Yes, if you have been diagnosed with a physical, or emotional illness that requires the care of a physician. BHS is not a replacement for traditional medical or psychological care, but is complementary to it. It is recommended that client work with a team of health care professionals to provide the most complete care possible. If you are not currently under the care of a physician and require it, the BHS practitioner can refer you.

What kind of illnesses respond to BHS?

BHS has been used effectively in conjunction with professional medical care for reducing pain, decreasing recovery time and decreasing the side effects of radiation treatment. It is used to help treat many diseases and injuries including anxiety, depression, cardiovascular disease, cancer, infertility, thyroid problems, colitis, immune system disorders, burns, contusions and injured muscles.

How effective is BHS, really? Is there proof that it works?
Is there clinical research?

Most of the research done so far is anecdotal, however, interest in these approaches is very popular right now. The most famous study was completed by Elizabeth Targ on distance healing with AIDS patients. Results proved that energy medicine made a statistically significant difference in the quality and quantity of life in this population of people.

Heal or Cure?

Healing is not about curing. It is about helping people on a healing journey toward increased consciousness and wholeness of being. In correlation with that there are certainly cures and bodies mended. But healing may mean healthier relationships with family members, or it may result in the ability to know and do your life's work. For others healing may mean coming to terms with their life just as it is and their dying.

How widespread is energy medicine?

Various forms of energy medicine have been practiced throughout the world for centuries, such as acupuncture, and homeopathy. In the United States energy medicine is newer but a strongly emerging modality. BHS is the only modality that thoroughly addresses the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, intentional and essential levels of the human being and human development.

What type of people go to healers?

All types. BBSH receives over 6,000 calls per year from people seeking practitioners. These people are interested in supplementing their care with a holistic, humanistic and gentle approach to health and healing.

Does insurance cover this work?

Not yet, although the trend is that insurance companies are starting to cover complementary treatments.
